The Trouble With Feedback

I had some good feedback on my own writing a couple of weeks ago. I learned how hard it is to hear positive comments about your work. My brain somehow turned every positive into a negative and assumed the worst. I was waiting for the 'but ....' to follow every positive comments.

I had to consciously shake myself out of it because it wasn't getting me anywhere.

Am I the only one who finds good feedback harder to hear?

  1. No, you are definitely not the only one. I am always subconsciously waiting for the 'but', too. However, that is great that you had some good positive feedback - congrats to you!

  4. I used to feel like this, but I've trained myself out of it, although it always feels like a pleasant surprise when someone does give me positive feedback.

Congrats on winning the Gift Grant, very deserving and worthwhile cause :)

  5. I'm exactly the same way. It's like you're always holding your breath, waiting for the negative, even if it's not coming.

Thank you for stopping by my blog the other day :)
