I had some good feedback on my own writing a couple of weeks ago. I learned how hard it is to hear positive comments about your work. My brain somehow turned every positive into a negative and assumed the worst. I was waiting for the 'but ....' to follow every positive comments.
I had to consciously shake myself out of it because it wasn't getting me anywhere.
Am I the only one who finds good feedback harder to hear?
No, you are definitely not the only one. I am always subconsciously waiting for the 'but', too. However, that is great that you had some good positive feedback - congrats to you!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely not. i usually hold my breathe waiting for the "but".
ReplyDeleteI will report back when someone gives me some positive feedback...
ReplyDeleteI used to feel like this, but I've trained myself out of it, although it always feels like a pleasant surprise when someone does give me positive feedback.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning the Gift Grant, very deserving and worthwhile cause :)
I'm exactly the same way. It's like you're always holding your breath, waiting for the negative, even if it's not coming.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog the other day :)
It's not just me then!
ReplyDeleteKat - Well, I love your writing.
Rachel - I need to train myself out of it too.
