Learn Something

This my new blog project. Since launching the first Bring Yourself e-course, I have been thinking more and more about teaching. Learning is a huge part of teaching and I want to learn more. Admittedly, I do already fit a huge amount of learning into my days. I surround myself by stacks of books in academic libraries, read novels, research obscure subjects and spend an unimaginable amount of time on the Internet. But I am hungry to learn more.

This project is about learning in a different way. I want to learn different things. Instead of big, earth shattering things, I want to learn things that are important to me. I want to find things out about myself and the places I go. I want to explore and investigate the world. Even if that is just by taking my dogs for a walk in the woods or having a conversation with someone I don't know.

As soon as I learn something, I am going to write it down on the nearest scrap of paper. I will photograph it there and then and share it with you. The sharing will be a part of the learning.

I am going to try and learn as much as possible. It will involve walking around with my eyes wide open looking for opportunities to learn. I think that's a good thing.

If you want to join me on my learning experiment/ mission/ whatever you want to call it, I would love to have you along for the ride. Please share what you learn. Maybe you could write it in the comments or post what you learn on your own blog. I would be thrilled to work on this with other people. That's when the fun stuff happens.

  4. Thanks Nikki. I'm really glad you like it. It is really interesting to spend a bit of time each day asking yourself - What is new today, what have I learned?

  5. This is a wonderful idea! I have loved writing since I was a child but lately I've been struggling with fizzling creative energy and writer's block - this sounds like a great way to combat that... I love finding new inspiration and friends :)

  7. Hey I really love this idea and would love to join and share. "I want to learn things that are important to me" really resonates for me as I'm working on living a life based on my values instead of fear. I don't have writers block, i have years of "You suck!" er, block. But because writing is so important to me I'm going to do this. I guess today is a good day to start. Peace.

  8. Susanna Sa - I'm really glad that you are joining me! Please do share what you learn. The 'You Suck!' voice is the worst. I hope it quietens and goes away. Just keep on writing.

  9. Moops! Your comment didn't make it to me so I've only just seen it (I knew you weren't the kind of blogger to ignore a comment! Bless!) Thanks for the inspiration. The 'you suck' voice has been the inspiration for a poem (which seems to be growing into a set). The first flow of words to be let go for quite some time. Thanks again.

  10. That's fantastic that you could channel the 'you suck' voice into a poem! That must be hard to do but very worthwhile.

  15. Brilliant idea. I share some of my learnings at http://gigglingatitall.blogspot.com
This week's best and mundane but vital learning was that white vinegar steaming in a microwave on high for 5 minutes brings it up a treat.

  16. I wish I had come across this earlier- heck I wish I found your blog sooner. I love everything I have read so far. This project seems to down to earth and focused on the little things that are near and dear to us and the new people we will meet by paying closer attention during our everyday ordinary routine events. Is it too late to give it a try and post comments?
